New headlight debacle

I decided to upgrade my headlights as one casing was cracked and I felt that better vision could be achieved.

I came across a set of headlights from Xtralights.com. Xtralights website is plastered with fake (glowing) customer reviews and how they are all about top quality products and customer satisfaction. BS

I purchased: Your order #300810598 97-03 Ford F150 Headlights /w LED - Chrome /w LED Corner Lights (pair) LH10937 1 $184.95 They are listed as being maufactered by SPYDER.

SPYDER HD-ON-FF15097-LED-SET-C: a chrome color, led lights, reflective, 4 stars review and halogen bulb for Ford Expedition

1. They were advertised as 'plug and play' which they absolutely were not. You had to cut off your plugs and wire everything in.

2. The corner light casing was an open design and filled with water the first time it rained. Automotive headlights that are not sealed?? really?? Of course they never show the back of the lights on there website.

3. Even with the adjusters at maximum the headlights could not be brought to the proper adjustment.

4. Xtralights.com hiden return policy. If you want to return a faulty product you must pay return shipping on the headlights {$50 as I was required to ship them to a FAKE address in Canada (yes, the headlights were returned to me as undeliverable) instead of the address in California where they were shipped to me from}, then you must also pay whatever it had cost them to ship it to you in the first place, then you are required to pay them 10% of purchase price 'inspection fee' and IF they determine that they are faulty, they will refund the balance.

5. I was never able to converse with an actual person via phone or email.

Fortunately I had paid via paypal and after 2 months, a lot of headache, and being on hold for 1.5hrs I was able to get my original payment refunded, though not my return shipping costs. So now i'm out $50 and I have a crap set of headlights sitting in a box. Yay for me...

In the meantime, and having had good experiences with Amazons return policy I purchased a set of headlights from them.

Depo 330-1119PXASC2 Headlight Projector with Park Lamp and Black Bezel

Amazon.com: Depo 330-1119PXASC2 Headlight Projector with Park Lamp and Black Bezel: Automotive Amazon.com: Depo 330-1119PXASC2 Headlight Projector with Park Lamp and Black Bezel: Automotive

I installed on them on my 97" F150 3-door

A few notes about these lights.

1. You have to trim a small chunk of plastic for these lights to fit. Comes with clear instructions and its easy to cut by hand with hacksaw blade.
2. Comes with everything else you need including, 2 wiring harnesses, 2 relays for the harness, and all 6 bulbs. No cutting into your vehicles wiring harness like every other aftermarket product. Everything just plugs in then you attach it to your battery terminals. Easy.
3. Very solid construction.
4. Great look.
5. Brighter then stock.

Now for the downside.

The passenger side headlight from the first set I received was faulty and could not be aimed at all. See pic. There should be only one spot of light, not the secondary spot on the lower left of the screen. It had 2 completely different points of focus. I notified AMAZON and they shipped a new set to me a few days later. I replaced that headlight with the new one and aimed it no problems. I am of the opinion that finding excellent aftermarket headlights is impossible, but these are the best available for my vehicle.

The clear lightning headlights with new halogen bulbs is the best bang for the buck.
