OT - Brag on myself a little

Joe- That is a bummer - I would guess your son is in a state of confusion as to what all of it means and what the future will bring. All you can do is reassure him things will get better and it is not the end of the world as I'm sure he feels now. Doc's today can work wonders. Take the time to heal completely and see more than one doc before deciding on a treatment plan. The biggest thing is don't come back to early -completely heal BEFORE playing again. I played football in the 60's when we played hurt - a dislocated shoulder kept me out one play - a blown out knee the rest of one season- today I can barely raise my arm level have had multiple surgeries on the knee including knee replacement and can only walk with a cane on good days and crutches the rest of the time. I have a back that is so arthertic it can not be operated on again. I am only saying this because I was a stupid young kid that could do anything and football was my future and my life. Your sons future health means more than a chance to play ball now. Take the time to fix things right and he will have a very bright future don't be stupid like me.
He will be in our prayers and thought for a speedy complete recovery.

Thanks Dave, I really appreciate the words and prayers.
Sam is the kind of kid that would go out on the field with his arm falling off. One of the first things I told him is that he will need to follow the physical therapy plan to the letter. He is pretty resilient. He was playing baseball a week after he got broke his maxilla (the bone that holds the teeth in). This injury will require sitting out a lot more though. Hopefully he will take the time to get good experience looking at football from a coaches perspective. I could see him coaching football or baseball sometime in his life. I'm not sure how his desire to be a wildlife biologist fits into coaching though, but he is young.

Well guys, I had a great weekend in Nebraska. The enshrinement ceremony was very cool and the game was a blast. My family had a wonderful time.
Here are a couple of pictures. My oldest daughter missed the ceremony because she was in South Dakota running her first cross country race in a Husker uniform.
We got to take one family member on the field to take pictures. My son was in hog heaven.
You can see a little bit of what the finished hall will look like in this picture. It will be an outdoor hall with a column for each sport. (Notice my wife on her toes so she can see over the stone.)
