Popping noise?backfire
When punch the gas the. Quickly let off it'll pop. Like a shotgun longer I rev louder it gets. I don't think timing is advanced unless some idiot thought they needed to. I thought 88 were back to the already advance timing. New spark plugs distributor cap. And rotor. So any ideas?

I had a similar problem this fall and winter. It turns out that I bought some gas that had water in it. It was backfiring and popping pretty bad. I thought that I had blown the engine. But it was just water in the tank. I added 2 pints of dry gas each time and it took a long time to get rid of all that water. Fortunately, I had two tanks and only one was affected so I ran on the good one and switched on the wet tank intermittently on the highway to remove the water. It took about 9 tanks to get rid of all the water.
To be sure, you will have to check the fuel pump pressure with a pressure gauge.

Did you click the link? I did not post the one from the oldfuelinjection site. I know darn well it's defunct and the person who was hosting the old content is usually up and down.
