Buying tips: 2009 FX-4

Hey folks,
I've found an 09 FX4 that I really like. However, this would be my first F150/truck/Ford, so I'm not exactly sure what to look for.

The truck I'm looking at has 170K miles. Which, I realize, is alot for an 09. The background check said it was a lease in Texas it's whole life. Which means it was probably mostly highway miles and there should be little to no rust.

I'm looking for input on potential problem areas I should look for with an 09. Esp with that many miles. What about maintenance items at that mileage? What should have been done already?

Thanks all!
Mike

Plugs and coil packs every 90k so I'd have the dealer do that service I did when I bought my 2010 with 80k on it. Look up the rear bulk head connector leaking on this site-it's very common. That's a lot of miles for a 09!

I don't like that it was a lease with all those miles. A lease owner would probably only do the minimum amount of maintenance required, anything else is like throwing money away. If it was a one owner and they had maintenance records I wouldn't worry too much if the price was right.

I'd be most concerned about the maintenance. The mileage doesn't bother me - I'm currently driving an 09 with 161K on the clock - but I'm pretty picky about my maintenance.

Agreed. It's tough with lease vehicles because it's probably a great deal but you figure people are only driving these for 3 years or so and then getting rid if then. It you've got detailed maintenance records available that could help ease any worries. I'd be sure I've got really thorough information on how it was handled.
