Ford is running at full steam to produce the aluminum-bodied F-150. After 13 weeks of upgrades, the Kansas City, MO plant is now online.

Interesting, someone here was saying they would ONLY produce the "work truck" varieties, but that article contradicts that.

Yeah, it's always tough to get quality information, it made sense to me that they would start with fleet orders to get caught up to any large tenders/contracts that they didn't want to miss out on.
it also makes sense to build trucks that have the highest profit margins, which is kind of the opposite strategy.

I guess that's why Ford has smart people who can figure this out, and I'm just commenting from the sidelines.

Haha, I think the words "profit margins" are key here. The average transaction price for a new pickup right now is like $41,000 I think. Those fleet trucks cost far less than that.

Maybe that's why the avg transaction price is up? Ford certainly has the power to influence those numbers. They've cut back on fleet sales and incentives...

Wow, my 13 was only $24K. A couple extra doors and options sure drive the price up in a hurry.
