97 E350 6.8L Gas Gauge Always Reads Full

i tried to search the forum before posting this but havent found anything yet was wondering if someone could shed a little light on what could cause the gas gauge to read full all the time

The sending unit inside the fuel tank has failed or the circuitry feeding the pointer of the cluster gauge have failed, potentially both.

This might require obtaining an accurate schematic or EVTM as they're known to diagnose your exact problem.

My guess is the tank sending unit.

Ok thanks I'm not that familiar with ford's so is the sending unit separate from the pump or is it all one unit

I think or believe the sending unit can be replaced separately from the fuel pump. However given the labor involved and age of the van I'm wondering if replacing the entire assembly wouldn't be the better option?

Before you change anything post this question in the Electrical forum here on FTE---someone will have a step-by-step test procedure to confirm the sending unit is indeed bad.

Ok thanks I don't like electrical so by habit I replace more then i should so I don't have to worry about things later in that area
