head and cam choice for a tow rig?
I am picking up my new tow rig on Tuesday. A bone stock 2wd 78 f250 with a 460, c6 and 3.54 rear end. My goal for it is to tow a loaded trailer possibly weighing up to 12k lbs. Since I am going to leave the c6 for now my rpms are going to be a little higher on the interstate (as opposed to swapping to an overdrive or zf5 later)
I have tried googling but I can't get a good comparison of the performer setup vs the rpm setup. For now I'm just going with intake, cam, timing chain and exhaust. The only comparisons I saw were with the performer intake and cam vs the rpm intake, cam and heads. The performer stuff seems to max out at ~ 2500rpm and drop quick. Should I go with the rpm stuff so I have more room for accelerating on the highway? Based on my Broncos rpm with a c6 and 3.50 I'm guessing I'm going to be cruising around 2800rpm. What are your thoughts? Keep in mind I am 99% illiterate when it comes to cam specs and numbers so don't bother using those in comparisons
