F350 dually to single question
I have saved money for a truggy project, and I think an f350 would make a decent base because the front axle is solid, and usually have lower gears that would be good for off-roading. I would be using an older model, probably an early to mid 90s model. However, I like the look of the mid late 80s model better so I will use one of those if I find one. Most of the ones I find are dually, I am pretty sure the front axle just has adapters that space the wheel out? For the rear, I am pretty sure it would be more difficult to do. I saw a picture where somebody used a 14.5 inch wheel and just used it in place of the dual wheels. Does the bolt pattern of the dualls match the pattern of other 8 lug wheels? How far does the center of the hub stick out? I don't want the hub sticking out farther than the wheel; having the hub past the wheel would just get caught on trees and rocks.
Do you think it would be better to just use an f150 or f250? I don't plan on anything crazy; I want to take the bed off and cut the frame, then build it with tubing like most truggys are. Once that's done, lift it 4 inches or so and put 35s on it.
