54 F100 Hood Jammed

Both hood releases on my 54 have become disabled. Does anyone have an idea regarding how to get the hood open so they can be repaired? Thanx.

Can you see them at all? Is the hood all the way down or on the safety?

Hey bjmayberry2 thanks for your response. I can't see the latches all that well; however I can get at the hood dowel. I was thinking of trying to back that out until there is some slop in the fit. I'm hoping that will give me a better shot at the dowel latch.

Not too sure why it wouldn't open. Can you feel/see the handle? Did you try pushing down really hard on the nose of the hood while pulling the handle.

Sometimes you can get a real thin chisel from underneath to release the latch

If the dowel goes down too far it can get stuck. I had that happen the other day. I took a screw driver and pried the dowel back a little bit and it came loose.

Here is the thread that saved me much aggravation.
