352 FE - C6 flexplate??

Hello Enthusiasts,

I got 66 SWB with 352 and an C6 AT. The transmission was swapped in replace of 3speed MT. I'm going to have to replace flexplate. First question I've seen somethings about old style and new style starters. The truck wasn't running when bought. I changed soleniod, didn't work so I changed out starter after old one was binding. Got it to crank but hit bad spot on flex. Turned crank got it to almost start. Repeated multiple time but seemed like flex kept getting worse. Turned crank but couldn't hit go spots on flex. Starter would spin. Is there a difference and could this cause damage to flexplate or cause it to wear quickly? Since I'm going to have to replace flexplate I want to make sure I get it right so I don't have to repeat process.

Also what flexplate do I need? 164 count? What unbalance weight? Etc.

Thank you all for any help
