Possible starter issue
A little story before I ask for everyone's thoughts.
About a year and half ago, while driving the 2004 f150. Something happened to the transmission and it began leaking fluid. A friend of mine helped me pull the transmission and we took it to his shop and rebuilt it. Well, it was still leaking fluid, so I decided to buy a rebuilt and put it in. That way I would have a new housing (different).
After putting the truck on road, all was well, until a day or two latter. I noticed that periodically I was hearing what I describe as a metal on metal sound. It was finally determined that the started was not being held in the back position correctly. It was sliding out and the flywheel was hitting it.
A few days ago I started noticing it again. Has anyone else had problems with the starter being hit by the flywheel??
Thank you
