2002 Sport Trac adding heated seats
Hello all. I have owned my 2002 ST since it was new in Jan 2002.
Neen a member over at mysporttrac.com since the beginning. Have done numbers mods over the years and continue to do them right up until the present day. Latest bug is to put heated seats into the front drivers and passengers. Got a kit and no real issue with how I will wire it and switch placement but I am looking for assistnce on how to remove the bottom and top seat covers just enought to slip the pads in.
I would prefern not to have to remove the entire seats if possible. Any suggestions/instructions/pics would be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

I repaired an open circuit in the driver's lower heated pad (OEM) in my 2004 Mountaineer. I'm pretty sure you'll need to remove the seats in order to install the heating pads. I don't recall all the details as I did this several years ago, but I am pretty sure I had to remove the plastic trim on the sides and covering the hinges in order to get the leather cover loose. I only had to repair the lower pad, not the back.
The wide plastic hooks front and rear unsnap and roll to release them. The covers are held to the cushion in a few locations with Velcro-style fasteners.
I probably have instructions in the factory service manual on how to do this. If you send me a Private Message with the request and an e-mail address, I'll e-mail you what I can find.
