OT: I've gotta brag on my son a little here

Many of you have helped out or given advice to my now 18 year-old son and me over the last three and a half years. We've even gotten to know a few of you. Today I am super proud of my boy. He is a lifeguard at a local pool here in Tucson. He's on spring break so he's been working a lot. Anyway, today Christian made a no kidding lifeguard save. He pulled a guy from the water, unconscious, no pulse, eyes rolled back, essentially dead on the deck. An apparent heart attack while lap swimming. Christian and other lifeguards gave him CPR, shocked him three times with the AED and they got him back! Paramedics took him to the hospital. Sadly, Christian learned that the man later died. He had a history of heart trouble. The paramedics and police later said Christian and the lifeguard team made a textbook rescue and had done everything perfectly. But alas, it was the man's time. Naturally Christian was and is shaken. We are praying for God's hand on his emotional recovery and for wisdom for my wife and me as we shepherd him thru these next few weeks.

On a separate but more on-topic note, our truck is doing alright. Still a few brake issues and electrical problems. For example, as of yesterday, the left turn signal now comes on when we press the brake pedal. How's that for weird?!?!

It is to God's glory when we have pride in our children. His emotions for the whole episode will be life changing and very likely positive in every aspect of his "growing up".
The relationship you describe between you and Christian is a treasure in and of itself

Christian may not view this as anything good at this particular point in time. He may even think if only ?????????, which is just part of the grieving process. As adults with more experience behind us we know nothing else could have been done for the man, and that this may just be one of the events that help Christian become the man that he is destined to become. You should be proud, you have raised quite a young man there, and from your first post it's been apparent that you guy's have a great father & son relationship. I will surely say a prayer for him tonight, and hopefully he will bounce right back from this sad event. Blessings.

Hey Tyler,
Not only did Christian rescue a man today but he's working - On Spring Break! I do have an 18 yr. old daughter .... just saying.

Looking good over there in Tucson. Has Christian picked a college yet?

Afraid so Ben. He's a born-and-bred, dyed-in-the-wool Wildcat.

I'm sure that was extremely traumatic for Christian. No matter how hard you train that has to be terrifying. He gave him the best possible chance of survival with his actions. It sounds like you have a fine young man, you have every reason to be proud. Thanks for sharing.

Christian sounds like one good kid. His old man is probably OK, as well.

sad story. but as far as your brake lights - check your grounds at all 4 corners. bad grounds can cause all sorts of interactions between the different elements of the tail lights and turn signals.

When you say "all four corners", you mean at each tail light each running light? I'll do that! Thanks! Tyler

Christian, What an awesome name to live up to. And it sounds like
he is doing a super job. I also am praying for our Lords help in
Christians understanding of what has happened.

Also yes check your light wiring and replace or repair as necessary.
It's prolly a ground but an open circuit shorted out will look for the path
of least resistance. I have had the horn honk when one signal or the
brakes were applied. Problem was in the column. But this also a later
truck with built in factory signals. Not added in As older trucks are.
