So I recently pulled my automatic transmission from my 1996 F-250 7.3L. After many frustrating hours getting the transmission back in the truck and getting everything hooked up it was time to start it . However when I turned the Key nothing. I have power all the electronics work but the starter wont turnover like what happens when one of the batteries is disconnected. I was told that the transmission ground strap was most likely disconnected. Makes sense to me but cant find where its located. I have tried looking all over the internet with no success which is how I eventually discovered this forum. I hope i'm posting this in the right area. Any light you guy could shed on the subject would be beyond appreciated. Thanks.

 

Is it automatic or manual?

 

Try starting it in neutral. If that doesn't work, try moving the shifter from Neutral toward Drive and toward Reverse, while holding the key in the START position. Sounds like the neutral safety switch, aka Trans Range Switch, aka MLPS, is not adjusted.
