53 ford f100

Hi, I'm emailing from the United kingdom about a 1953 f100 pickup that I'm currently restoring .For me to register this vehicle with the department of motor vehicles in the uk I need to show some kind of proof or verification that it was in fact made in 1953 ,the vin/chassis number is F10D3R-12706 I have attached a photo of the pickup hoping that there is some way you can help me prove or verify that the vehicle is what I say it is, I have tried contacting the Ford headquarters but with no reply , yours hopefully

Your truck's serial number is stamped into the top side of the frame rail, front passenger's side just ahead of front axle. Hopefully they recognize vin decoder sites on internet as Ford does not have official site to do so.

Welcome to FTE, Mate.

This is the best Ford Truck site in tnw World Wide Web. You will get your questions answered here.

Your VIN, off the top of my head without looking it up, means : F100, 6 cylinder, 1953, and the R would be the production plant which might be Rochester, NY.... and the numbers would be the production number which started with 1001.

Correction: I had to cheat and look it up.... R stands for Richmond, Virginia

By the way, we did not see your picture.

There are a couple of other truckers across the pond
that have recently asked this same thing. Maybe they
will chime in and tell what they have learned.
