Question about a sending unit
For those of you who are using the 60s Mustang tank and are fuel injected....
Are you running a returnless style system?
My setup is a 2001 Ford DOHC 4.6L and a 1969 Mustang tank.
I need to get an inline fuel pump and regulator setup, just wondering what everyone else was using. Are you guys using the stock 60s mustang sending unit too?

Mike, 2001 DOHC used a returnless fuel system with Fuel Pump Driver Module (FPDM) controlled by PCM. You can use that with in-tank mounted pump or you can convert to return style fuel system with an in-tank or in-line fuel pump and a pressure regulator near the feed to the fuel rail (you need return style fuel rail too).
With pump in-tank, you really need a fuel sump style tank that was designed for in-tank pumps. You can get a tank made or use several aftermarket tanks designed for this purpose, or use the 1995 Chevy van tank (22 gal) and just change the pump to the Ford/walbro high pressure pump. The are also fuel tanks made for older mustangs that are modified for EFI use, and this might be your best bet. Check with C J Pony Parts or Scott Drake or other Mustang part sources.
