P.I.M.A. truck, oil pressure gauge not working

Hello everyone,

My name is Lisa Cottrell. I currently own a 2006 F550 4x4 pick-up. I just finished changing the oil and my oil pressure gauge is not working, can someone please help?

If the truck is running you most likely have a failed oil pressure sensor. Would need more diagnosis otherwise.

Welcome to FTE Lisa.

The sensor for the switch is right behind the oil filter you just changed.

Might want to take a look at it. It is a single wire. The gauge on the dash is only on-off. In other words, is there pressure yes? on, no? off. #5 in the lower picture.

Stand pipe is fine, I think it's the drain back valve. If I replace that part and the oil pressure gauge still doesn't work what else could be wrong? Where exactly is the wire you speak of?

Damaged low pressure oil pump. Those may be pieces from an earlier failed center stalk or the drain valve except I do not remember that bigger spring on the drain valve. The drain back valve is mostly copper.

Unfortunately, its too late to get the part tonight. I plan to get the drain back valve tomorrow and hopefully it will fix both the broken part and the oil pressure gauge not working. If it doesn't I'll be back on with questions. Thanks everyone who has helped so far.

So, I am curious. Were you able to get this resolved?

How long have you owned the truck? I'm wondering if it had an aftermarket filter and cap at some point. And that's where the bigger spring and bigger plastic piece is from. The smaller parts look like the drain back valve. If you have trouble getting down to the bottom of the filter housing it's not too bad to take off. Once you unhook the fuel lines there are for 4 47 torx head bolts that hold the housing on. Then you can lift the whole thing off and have a better view to inspect and replace. Make sure to use two wrenches when removing the fuel lines so you don't break the lines. If you do pull the housing it's a great time to upgrade the fuel pressure regulator with the blue spring kit. Since you can set it on a bench to do it instead of dealing with the small pieces hunched over the engine.
