I'd be happy if it starts and runs reliably and smooth. Maybe gets more than 8mpg. I think my intake played the biggest part in that issue.

I'm not sure how my Carter is set up. I doubt its set for a larger engine.

There should be quite a bit of interchange between an AFB and an Edelbrock though I've never bothered looking into it, I bring this up as I have quite a few Jets, Springs and Metering Rods for Edelbrocks.

Should be but I'm not sure. After the recent intake work I've noticed a leak at the throttle valve thing. It looks like it may be leaking fuel, kind of a brownish color now.

Sorry guys, real life has gotten in the way of me fixing up some of the things on the truck lol. Saw the meet up thread I work open to close that day so unless something changes I wont be able to make it, but if I do happen to get that day off I am all in for it. Updates to the truck, I installed an aftermarket tach so I could tune/monitor my rpms, I will post a pic of the results of the install, I believe I did a decent job lol. Fixed my starting issue I had seems the butterfly valve was in a constant open position, so the carb couldn't suck the gas thru to start so I adjusted it to be flat so the choke could do its thing and it starts reliably now with a few cranks of the engine. But I now found a gas leak at my fuel pump at the coupling between the incoming metal line and the screw on fitting. So I am now going to replace that line, the fuel pump and the rubber hoses as well top redo that part of the system so that I dont have to worry about it. I still have not rebuilt the carb lol, but with the pump issues thats now a back burner till I get the other done.

Late arrivals on the 20th is just fine. Or pretty much any day of the week is open.

Glad you got a couple of the issues figured out.

What do you do for work?

As much as I'd like to make the meet, work comes first. Though if I could met up with someone in the Tacoma area to help me with some tuning of my 71. I was messing with it yesterday and it runs ok but at a stop in gear it seems like it wants to die. As I accelerate it struggles a bit but then takes off fine and runs pretty smooth. I have a 360FE still have points, though I would like to get away from them. Good luck with the meet today!

I think you can just get a standard distributor from the store to replace the points right? The only vehicle I had with points was a 71 Volkswagen.

Yes, can get a factory replacement Duraspark distributor for a 1976 390cid, drop it in and wire in any ignition system that you want to run.

I could probably meet up with you next time I do a trip up north.

Parts truck is in Marysville but I usually have a bunch of running around to do every time I'm up there so I wouldn't drag someone along for all of that.

MitchH: You can PM me your cell # when you get enough posts to do PMs and I'll let you know when I'm in the area.
