4.9 efi to carb

I have a 87 4.9l efi I want to switch to carb. I have the head intake and carb. I was wondering what I need to do about a fuel pump and what other parts I need?

Why? Whats the point? Whats wrong with the EFI setup? Why would you want something less reliable and worse on fuel?

I want a carb because the efi set up has no where near the power needed to move that truck up hill without pulling something plus it's has been anything but breakdown after breakdown

a carb isn't magically going to give you more power. the efi is as easy as it gets do diagnose and fix. just pull the codes....

if you must have a carb, you just need to delete your high pressure pump on your frame rail. the in-tank pumps on your 87 are ~7psi, and were designed for carb originally.

You're going to lose power if anything if you are swapping stock carb bits, EFI on these trucks is stupid easy to fix. Might be better off doing a V8 swap if you want more power.

The connector for the computer to be read is all gummed up and since you say a carb won't get me anymore power do you know of a Diesel engine that would fit in that particular engine bay?

Clean up the connector? Cut and splice in a good one from another truck?

4BT/6BT, idi and 7.3 strokes will fit, but unless you're set on building a fummins better off buying a 250 or 350 diesel.
