2011+ ugly grill fixes

I've been shopping for a superduty, and I really like the powertrain options on the 2011+ trucks but their grills are so ugly....
What have you guys done or seen to improve the looks of the 2011+ trucks?
Pics or links will be appreciated!

I like my big ole honking chrome plastic mass of grill upfront of the Superduty. However, I did add a set of inserts to the grill itself and a larger exterior grill protector as shown in the photo.

Chrome NOT!

I just hated the amount of chrome and liked the older FX4 grilles so I did this:

That looks much better. Did you paint over the chrome, or buy a paintable grill?
What did you use for the black?

No, I did it myself... just pulled it off, brought it downstairs into my workskop and sanded the chrome with an air sander. I then used "Automotive Touchup's" spray cans (plastic adhesion promoter, matched color and clear coat) and sprayed it out in the garage. The Ford insignia was another story that I won't get into

As I said above, I painted over the scuffed chrome - same with the black. Sanded all that stuff down but just to a surface that SHOULD take paint!

Now, it's only been done for about three months and I can see all kinds of little chips so SANDING THE CHROME DIDN'T WORK FOR ME!!! Either have the chrome bead blasted off or buy a paintable grill surround - FOR SURE!

It does look good. I nice clean look.

I been thinking of doing some of my chrome in black bedliner spray. My step bars will be done first as they are starting to pit. Then maybe the grill later. I have had a lot of success with the rattle can bed liner on other projects.

I normally like as much paint and as little chrome as possible, but I really like these grilles. I like that you can tell it's a Super Duty coming at you from a mile away!

Another nice thing about my bare bones XL, All blacked out version of the same grill. Only "chrome" on mine, is in the Ford and Flexfuel badges.

Yeah I was thinking the same, and you could probably easily find someone to trade with.

This is where I got my inspiration... THO2nd's rig - he painted the outer shell and bumper but plasti-dipped the black bars in the grille. I plan on doing the bumper when it gets warm enough, if that EVER happens!!!
