Angry 01 f250 loses power and runs rough

My 01 f250 starts and idles fine but after driving it just a little while it starts running rough and the check engine light comes on. When I checked for codes it shows p0307. My Chiltons manual says it is cylinder 7 misfire but it acts like it is only running on half the cylinders. A mechanic my wife talked to said it might be 1 of the boards are bad. What board is he talking about and could it be the pcm?
I am just a backyard mechanic and don't know much about these newer vehicles and all the electronics. Any Ideas what this might be?

If you at least know how to check resistance with a meter, you came to the right place. The UVCH link in my signature has a good place to start.

I checked the resistance and it didn't show any resistance on any of them.
What might that mean?

I looked at the link and it shows the 42 pin connector. Is that what I should be checking the resistance on, or is it the 9 pin connector on the top side of the valve cover? Do you need to take the valve cover off to check the 9 pin?

The 42-pin tests the connections from that point, through the outer 9-pin, the inner 9-pin, the injector coils and connectors, and back. No resistance, or no conductivity?
