RECALL.....FINALLY

Well after my 12 6.7 left me stranded 5 times last year I think they finally got it right. Got a recall notice and took it in last month to have the recall done. The problem was in the exhaust temp sensors, or so they said last year, and I refuse to carry spare parts for a new truck as was suggested by some of the fine folks on here. I did get a call back from a Ford rep and I assured her the next time it quit it would be towed in on their nickel. She had the gall to ask if I had roadside assistance!
Anyhew, after the recall work (reprogram) this thing is running much better, the mileage has increased at least 2mpg and (knock on wood) hasn't quit. I would like to know though, what took them so dern long to get this problem, and yes it was widespread, corrected. I now have 18K on it so you can see it isn't because of high mileage. The Factory warranty runs out this month so if it gives the problem again I will opt for the aftermarket exhaust system, the reprogram to go with it and will no longer have to put DEF in it.
Like I said though, so far, so good. Love my truck just the same.

The last time it went flop-bottom and I crippled it in, I told them in no uncertain terms the next time it would be the DOT that would be talking to them.

More good news. We've had quite a bit of discussion over in this thread.

tuner question

Has anyone had a problem installing a tuner after this recall ?
I ask because I thought someone had a issue with their SCT after ward and I plan on doing a DEF delete next year.... or maybe late this year. And would hate to do the recall and then not beable to do the delete do to programming issues

I had the recall done about five weeks ago. Last week I had an H&S Mini Maxx installed along with a 5" Flo Pro exhaust and Sinister EGR delete kit and so far everything is working great...

I'm sure the tuners just needed to be updated.

has the recall done anything to improve MPG ? Looks like someone thought it also helped with that too

Tuner companies will need to see a truck with the new calibration, then they patch their changes into it and release. A lot of times a customer of theirs hooks up their tuner and does a download for the company. I actually did that on 2015 so that ForScan would work with it.
