Not according to the first paragraph of your post #28. In any event, mods like that should always be mentioned in the opening post (and no, not just in one's sig). Have you checked fuel pressure WHILE the problem is happening, vs. BEFORE it happens?

Dan, have you looked at those connectors? Check continuity between center pin and injectors. Check gp pins to injector power sides. I have a feeling one of those will be your problem.or pull the vc on that side. You should have warranty on those parts since they are very new still. There is an electrical problem in that bank...you just have to find it.
Call me if you need to!

My apologies. I am pretty positive it is not fuel related. I have 60psi I think WHILE the problem is.happening. when the battery died and I tried to start it without the GPs going I think I just emptied the fuel in the system. Then the oil pressure wasn't enough to trigger the pump since it wasn't starting.

It just stopped raining so I will go pull the vc and.see what is happening in there.

Thanks

Final update and then we can close this thread down. The very back glow plug connector had broken off. The black plastic piece was on the GP but the red wire was just dangling and grounding out. So I guess that was causing the idm to shut down that bank of cylinders and it may be why the problem was intermittent. I replaced the gasket and now it is running great again.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. It's funny because I don't think of myself as a very good mechanic. My gut initially wanted to pull the connectors one at a time and see if that would tell me anything. But I got sucked into days and days of diagnosis and looking at volts and stuff. Even as poor a mechanic as I am, I am going to trust my gut a little more. Once I found that the whole drivers side wasn't working it really helped confirm I needed to dig into that valve cover.
