New to me, 77 F600 Crew Cab
I just had this 77 Ford F600 Crew Cab delivered to me today. It spent most of it's life as a fire/rescue vehicle, then it was turned into a dump truck. Since it spent the better part of it's life as a pampered fire truck it is in pretty good shape. A very little rust in the passenger floor board but that's pretty much it. It has a 330 V8 in it and a 4 speed with 2 a speed rear axle. The frame is perfect. My Son and I fired it up with gas in the carb and the motor sounds good. It needs a fuel pump which I ordered today and arrives tomorrow.

here is a picture of my two Crew cabs together. The doors are coming off the F600 and going on my F250, that is the main reason I bought the F600. I will put the doors from the F250 on the F600 soon. I am not sure what my plan is for the F600, I want to get it running and drive it and evaluate the possibility of me restoring it and maybe turn it into a rollback car hauler/tow vehicle. This will depend on what all it needs to make it reliable and safe. I also need to see how it will do on the interstate and how difficult it is to drive.

Nice truck.
So after 2 hours with no real specific questions about your truck, you deem the Large Truck forum to be a ghost town....
If you are mostly going to feature your F250, start a thread in the other forum.
If you have a question or want the VIN and warranty plate decoded, this is a good place to stay.
Good luck with your projects.
Oh, as for how it does on the highway, I would expect it to hit the wall about about 65 MPH with the 330, which is pretty much a good place to stop given the brakes, especially with a load. 330s are good motors, but they are, afterall, just 330s.
You familiar with the two speed? Post 5 has Eaton links and you can OD on the two speed if need be:

Why in the world would you want to swap doors between the two trucks? Unless you want the look of mis-matched doors (color-wise) on both trucks. And if you eventually want to restore the F-600, you will have to swap doors again - an F-600 just ain't restored unless it has F-600 doors on it!
By the way, the 4th digit "D" in your v.i.n. stands for 330 Heavy-Duty V-8.

I do my own body and paint so no big deal. The F600 doors are in way better shape than the F600. IF I do restore the F600 I will paint it also, in the mean time I will probably put a quick spray of red on the F600 doors after I swap them.
