yay march! spring is coming and im going to hurry it along this year!
im taking my first vacation since a decade! long overdue! im hitting the open road guys.Maine to California and back again! a solo run.see ya guys when things are thawed out!
i dunno why (well yes i do.im such a hermit it's hard for me to step out and do anything lmao!) but i kept procrastinating the trip.i kept telling myself to just do this back in jan or feb but that's ok,not much call for tree work until April anyway so im going to get on this before it's too late! march is still a crappy month to escape from too.

It's my Monday, lol
Oh well. Did a little bit of snowshoeing yesterday. Also got all set u p to start maple-sugaring, although it's way too cold today, but starting tomorrow the temps should be perfect for the next week. Hoping to get over 80 gallons of syrup this year, which should yield between 2-3 gallons of syrup.
Hope you all have a good Friday, and a great weekend!

Roughly. Depends on the quality of the sap, which depends on weather and the type of maple tree used. I have 3 (2 HUGE) sugar maples, which have the highest percentage of sugar in their sap. *Usually* I can actually do 30 gallons of sap per gallon of syrup. As a general rule tho, it's a 40:1 ratio.
Sugar levels can range anywhere from half to five percent sugar in the sap.
It also depends on the grade of syrup you like. Some people like thinner, lighter syrup. I like it dark and thick, pretty much between a Grade-A Dark Amber, and a Grade-B.
It sounds harder than it is, trust me, lol
