1955 f100 project

I just bought a barnfind 1955 F100.
It has been setting since 1989.
The truck apears to be all original.
I am leaning toward ifs suspension, v8 auto.
Anyone out there have any threads to a low budget build.
Really like the crown vic, police package motor, trans, diff.
But I am open to any suggestions.
I have evenconsidered a Frame Swap.
My frame seams to be really solid.

thanks for any info

Frame swaps in theory seem great, not a lot of parts to buy other than the donor. But the reality is that it is a lot of work to make it all fit. You can get aftermarket IFS kits from a lot of places, and the Crown Vic is a great alternative that can be had fairly cheaply. You can search on Google for any of this, just type what you are looking for and add FTE. I find it the easiest way to search this site.
Good luck with your build and don't forget to show us all some pictures!

If you can find a Cheap 2003-2011 Crown Vic take the IFS, Rear Axle, power train, and anything else you might wanna try (wiring, seats, steering column, etc). Then sell the body for scrape. You shouldn't have a lot in it but there's a lotta work to get it all running in your F100.

Just a question: If you are starting with a solid frame and complete truck - and are challenged like most of us on money - why would you spend precious dollars on stuff that isn't really broke before ever getting on the road? Not that you are planning for this, but in the last few days, I have bid on a couple of abandoned projects that sold for pennies on the dollar before the owner got one mile in. Do what you need to on the drive train and brakes - then make plans while driving your beauty. Your truck - your call. Enjoy the journey.
