'42-'47 panel and pickup doors the same?

Just wondering if the pickup doors are the same as the panel? Part numbers?

The tops are different. The panels are square at the top rear and the pickups are rounded.

Thanks, that makes sense with the shape of the roof. My doors are fair at the bottoms, not excellent but I see some on local CL from a pickup. Just as well, would just be another way to spend money. I will practice my sheet metal welding when the time comes.

It wouldn't be too hard to weld the corner up to match, if that's the only difference.

Good point. Bottoms look like a PITA to fabricate something, weld in and make it fit. I have a pickup and a two ton to look at, so if I get a chance today I will take some careful measurements and report back....

I'll be looking at making some truck doors work on mine too. I must have the same issue, the bottoms are junk.

My outer skins are straight and decent. The inner bottoms are 'challenged'..... Don't tell Ax, but maybe I will form new bottoms from window screen and epoxy. My theory is that if you can drive around in it and it looks decent and you can perhaps have some fun, why fret about the details? Way too much 'done right' and 'done wrong' in the last 20 years with this hobby. I've had a blast for 40 years and plan to continue......

I agree. A lot of people get concerned with bad floors and it never bothered me to fix them with road signs because you never see them anyway.

The only floors I didn't make from road signs, I made with the backs of electrical panels. I never cover them up with floor mats because in this part of the country a floor mat just holds in the water that gets in through the cracked weatherstripping and leaking windshield. I guess I could switch over to using the modern aluminum road signs, but they are just too darn ugly and don't weld to the steel very well.......

It's good to find out that my panel is not the only one with a road sign floor. I'm so new to this that I thought it was a bad thing.

It's an honest repair. Not everything in life needs to be brought back to looking like new. A total and accurate restoration is a beautiful thing to behold, but it isn't for everybody and every situation. Sometimes things just need to be fixed and there isn't a lot of time or money (or incentive) to re-do it just like the factory did.
