it sucks! when i finally do studs im going all in with new injectors glowplugs. anyone wanna drive up and give me a hand when i have to do all the work?
i haven't had my gaskets go out yet (at least as long as i've owned it) it may have been done especially because it has almost 200,000 miles! but i hope they don't go out! but when they do im doing it big! and correctly!
I did mine at 90K. But, I had been driving it for a while, with the blown gasket. Having the FICM fail was just the reason to get it in, and get it done.
Ahh ok. but it sucks being on a budget and having to do this.... it sounds like it was only the #7 cylinder that went bad when i got off the interstate in watertown, have you cleaned your turbo?
I had the shop rebuild it when they did the heads. I also had them go through the heads. Since the factory did a crap job of aligning the valve train, it had a lot of wear, so I had them replace the valves. Oh, one other thing, have your heads decked. Otherwise, the bolts/studs will expend their strength just pulling the heads down flat. International did a ****-poor job machining the head surface, its not perfectly flat.
