Pre-fill the reservoir.
If inclined you could pre-fill the oil rails thru the ICP sensor port on the passenger side and the plug on the driver's side.
Pull FICM relay and crank engine until dash gauge registers oil pressure.
Re-install relay and crank. Usually after a couple 20 second spurts.

Yes you can but that is actually a test port. I usually just charge the batteries and crank for no more than 20 second intervals with a minute of cool down in between. Once running and up to TEMP, I go out on the highway and give it 5 hard accelerations WOT. All the air will be out of the system by then.

I've just been putting oil down the very center of the oil filter housing you will have to remove the oil filter standpipe to get the oil down the center of housing or hold the oil filter housing drain down while filling with oil
This cuts. My crank Time down considerably it will usually start within the first 20second crank
There's a couple other good ideas in the other posts to
These starters are tough you could crank for a minute solid and not cause any harm.
It's when guys still tring to start with issues/problems and they crank for hour or more with a battery charger hooked up giving little time to cool down they get desperate for it to start
Even with a dry system it should start within a couple minutes of cranking if it don't start after that much crank you have other problems to address

Ok while trying to start this piece I removed port in top of HP Oil rails. Cranked until oil came out these holes. Installed plugs and put a mechanical pressure gauge in ICP port and was seeing about 200-250. I figured since IPR was open it would build when I hooked everything up and cranked from ignition switch. Pressure through mechanical gauge showed 75 at most.
So I went back to square 1. Applied air to ICP port, 100 psi the best I can do. I hear a little gurgle and air sounds like at the pump area. I hear air moving listening through oil filler cap. When I close IPR I hear that stop, I still hear small gurgle around pump area. Turbo is on so I really can't pinpoint exactly where around pump.
