Exclamation 07' sport trac shaking at Idle

Hey guys!

Today i realised when i came to a red light that my truck was shaking , on a lowish rpm about 600 , but when i disengaged the transmission , everything was fine! then i drove it a little longer , it became hotter , and it stopped doing it , can someone enlighten me on what could possibly be up with my truck!?

It sounds like you have a misfire, either ignition related or a vacuum leak. It could be as simple as an intake air tube that is loose, so check that first. There are not many vacuum lines under the hood and the intake gaskets are not a very common issue with the 4.6L, so my next suggestion would be to check all the connections for the ignition coils, especially if you unplugged them when changing out the spark plugs.

If you have a scan tool that can access pending diagnostic codes, see if there are any pending misfire codes for a specific cylinder. That could help you reduce diagnostic time and might point you to a spark plug that got cracked when installed 100 miles ago.

Thanks for the answer rod , i forgot to mention that my truck was not ''hot'' when it was happening , and when i drove it a little further and he came to the right temperature , it all stopped , out here its cold these days int northern Canada just wanted to mention in case it could be something else! but i'll check that out as soon as possible!

That could suggest an issue with the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor or the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. But I'd still check for pending diagnostic codes first if you have access to a decent scan tool.
