Without breaking? Can't help you there! But I would recommend don't EVEN begin unless I have, or have access to, a Lisle extractor tool.
The job is much easier if you remove the PCM (don't unplug it) and lay it over on the fender well. Then remove the PCM mounting bracket. After that, Cylinder 3 and 4 are about as easy to get to as any other - although that's not to say any are EASY.
I have one spark plug socket that is simply too thick to go all the way down the spark plug hole and engage the spark plug, and I have another one that will. Do not know the brands, but-- (I noticed you ask about this problem in another thread here).
You did not say how many miles are on your '04 5.4, or if you have changed plugs before, but judging from your recent post in another thread here [ Musical Misfires (2004 F-150 5.4L V8) ], I thought you might get some benefit from my similar experience with my '04 5.4L 3v - detailed at: 5.4L 3V Spark Plugs Engine Build Dates before 10/09/07 - Page 86 - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans
Good luck

I replaced all the coil packs and fuel injectors on my 5.4, also the fuel filter and did that in 1h45min after 30 miles I had the miss fire return that I thought I had fixed, didn't do plugs because they were done 2 years ago and maybe 40,000 miles tops, so after packs and injectors I went n bought new plugs and the tool and I got lucky, 50min and I had all 8 plugs changed, that was poping the hood to closing the hood and my misfire cylinder I found plug had come loose, cylinder 3 and 4 are a bit of a trick but I used a deep mac socket, a john deere extension that is made to allow a slight swivel of the socket, and a flex head fine tooth mac ratchet, all went pretty smooth for me and I did not take anything out of the way to get at the plugs, aside from the coil packs of course, and I just used my pocket magnet to remove plug from hole after it was loose
