I just put Archoil in on my last oil change. Rotella T6 synthetic. Took about 300 miles before I noticed any difference, but it definitely made a difference. Cold mornings are much easier to start. Couple days ago I started the truck, 2 degrees out according to the overhead display...I was a little worried that I didn't plug it in, but let her have it. Started no problem, shook a little for a couple seconds and that was it. Overall I don't think you can go wrong for 40$ or so, just don't expect the stuff to cure cancer...

Pretty funny coming from a guy that considers himself "Certified Thread Highjacker".

Anyhow, are you going to dump in their fuel treatment too or just the oil additive?

I'm a professional. Bo is annoying.

As for Archoil:

It's what the owner wanted to try
I was curious anyways

Can't RP you a 2nd time just yet.
But I so agree with you on that. Plus he is acting like a used snake oil/car salesman.

Yes Bo people do read/see it that way.

1 week and 560 miles later...

Observations so far: Looks like Archoil helped injector #6. Injectors #1 and #4 are still dogs. #8 is iffy.

At operating temps injectors #1 and #3 are *******. Injector #4 is iffy, I believe #3 is partly to blame. In reality I would recommend replacing Injectors #1 and #3 and go from there.

I'm hoping to have an update video after a month.

Are you going to try that extreme diesel stuff after a month?

Which stuff? I'm fairly certain the owner of the truck will keep running the engine as is. He wasn't interested in replacing injectors, polishing spools or trying anymore additives.

His truck shows the cold start issues, however, in compensated contribution it runs fairly smoothly. IMHO injectors #1 and #3 need replaced as they ar the ones that booger up at operating temp.

Not my money to spend on that one.

I have a 2000 mile trip in April that I am going to use the Diesel Power Cetane Boost in my own truck. At least for the first 1000 miles to compare to the next 1000.

Josh I know that you should be able to wash out any additive for the return trip but
to me is seems like less problems to put the additive in for the return trip.
Also that will prevent any that gets into the oil system from adding any effect with
any carryover from the treated tanks

I have always averaged 18 mpg on the trip with an ATV in the bed. So, in theory if I see 18.5+ mpg improvement the additive did something.

I have done the trip with and without 2 Stroke Oil with no change in mpg. Just quieter injectors.

That is also what I have found with the 2cycle oil. But some times
I like to hear the clatter. Just HATE tire on the road noise. ie Small
cars drive me crazy with there tire noise. I guess if it had a good
sound insulation package then it would be better till I roll the windows down.

Oh jeeze fellas, you're gonna hurt my feelings! I get on here for 3 different reasons... First is to give some insight on stiction problems, and oil/additives in general. Seeing as my other duties here at Lubrication Specialties is tech support, I talk to a lot of guys with stiction problems. Due to the sheer number of people I talk to about it, I feel I have some valuable input.
I also get on here to help current customers (like what I did in this thread). I try to do as much as possible over PM, while still letting folks know I am here to help out if they want it.
Lastly, I am here to get the Hot Shot's name out. *Gasp!* Yes, a good portion of why we pay to sponsor here is so we can talk about our products. I would hope you would treat those posts as any other ad, and just scroll on past without being too annoyed by my "used car salesman" side.
Since this is a thread about Archoil, I will go back to just observing, and gathering information about the competition

That would be me. What it came down to was the weather warmed up quicker than anticipated so cold start stiction observations came to a standstill.

He's still running Rotella 5W40, but only did that initial treatment of Archoil. Not sure what mileage he is at now, my guess is 140k+. As far as I know nothing has been replaced.

Maybe I can get an update from him on running characteristics... as for another IDS video I am not sure if I can pin down that truck for testing in a while.

But basically, in his situation Archoil marginally helped with one injector for cold starts, but didn't do anything for operating temperature contribution.

Thanks Josh.

This was really informative and you were onto a great closed experiment here.

I was wondering if this got quashed by corporate or something, I understand life moves on though.
