Subscribed also,

I run Archoil as well and would like to see the results of this experiment.

Thanks Josh for posting this up

Hopefully Josh's computer will show results or lack off. Remove the "placebo" effect of our wishful thinking

I'll post my initial reactions.

The noise level definitley lowered within about 10 miles of driving. Almost like a light switch effect.

On the way home today the throttle response improved.

I didn't plan on running another contribution test until next Sunday, but I may need to sooner to show the results.

Lets see how your differs from the series I ran. Outside air temp is much
lower than when I did mine.

Sean

EDIT : Just had a thought. Next time I'll warm mine up and then take a baseline.
Then after I get that I will add the Archoil and restart and we can watch to see just what it does.
I might also do some audio spectrum analysis with a tool I found for the iPhone

I was taken by surprise as I have had that engine twice for 2 different contribution balance tests. #1, 6 and 8 showed low on cold starts and #1 and #3 were iffy once hot.

However, yesterday morning I had #1 and #6 low which I expected but #8 was halfway decent and the surprise was #4 was showing low like 1 and 6.

Good baseline.

To match Saturday my next cold start contribution would have to be Thursday I believe.

I would like to get the injectors done before I take my trip to
LA and that should be a doable item. Then I will track what
my MPGs look like on the trip. Last time on the freeway I
was seeing 21.5 for the most part. Would like to see how/what
the Archoil does fro that too.

Keep us posted on how this goes.

I did do a -25f unplugged start with my 03. It was at an airport and it was that cold when I got back. 3 tries to start but it did. Did not sound good at all. Just Rotella 5w40 and power service treated 50/50 fuel.

Whether it gets me through a winter or if it cleans it up permanently, either way I'm happy. I will ween it of it come spring and see if it's still good. If it's not, I'll throw an injector or two in it. The weather should be nicer by then.
I am glad you are happy with the product, but I'd still like to get it cleared up enough to where you only need the single quart once every third oil change. I am assuming you are just running 1 quart per cycle now. Did you run the full 2 quarts for the initial treatment? If you want to tell me your full usage history through a PM, we could figure out the best course of action. Most likely, I will be able to send you another 2 quart bottle free of charge to finish cleaning out your injectors.

I ran Archoil for 25,000 miles, 6200 in the fuel, 9100 in the oil, every fill up and oil change. I had some stiction with 15w40 below 50* but Mobil 1 fixed that for a while but it came back. When I started getting a contribution code I replaced all the injectors as they had 175,000 mi and stopped using Archoil, 2 injectors were leaking past the copper gasket. The Archoil definitely lessened the clatter but in my opinion it just prolonged the injector replacement. The Motorcraft reman injectors without Archoil are as quiet as the old on Archoil and run much smoother.

Now the Archoil gun oil is good stuff, but that is for another forum.

Arch oil is not a solution for a bad injector. It is a solution for stiction. So, if you have stiction it works. If you have a bad injector, it may help mask the some of the symptoms but the injector still needs to be replaced. That's how I see it

3 systems to the injector: fuel, oil and electrical. Archoil would only help the oil side i.e. Stiction.

Fuel and electrical problems seem to pop up more at operating temp.
