Archoil Experiment Coming Up

Well guys, I'm going to give the Archoil a try. I have a buddy with a 2006 F350 Supercab, 120XXX miles that has some stiction in the mornings.

It actually isn't that bad, especially while observing compensated injector contribution. Non-Compensated is when injectors #1, 6 and 8 pop up.

VXCF9 strategy and latest FICM flash. Using Gearhead 8K. 240 amp alternator and straight exhaust I believe are the only mods.

Doesn't want to fork out the money for new injectors (and they perform fine at operating temp) and doesn't want to try polishing the spools.

So Archoil it is. I hope to do a baseline cold start video tomorrow morning which will be about 0 degrees out. And then progress videos throughout as I will use the truck myself the next week with a long trip Sunday and 2 long trips next Friday and Saturday.

The oil was just changed 2 weeks ago, Rotella T6 5W40 btw.

I've also tossed around the idea of doing a closed hood Injector Diagnosis video and also a video showing the IDS Turbo Test.

Any thoughts?

Baseline Video

Yeah ran 9100 and it had cured my issues as of now, I am getting ready to send an oil sample off to see how much it still had left after 7000 miles

Arch oil worked for me. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well and how quickly it works. I have no stiction issues now and it's been at least 20k miles

I went from being fairly adamant about polishing spools for stiction to recommending replacing the injector.

I was never against Archoil as it has it's fans. Unlike Rev-X which seems hit n miss and HotShots which is likened the most to snake oil.

Having Ford IDS I can definitely see the differences in FICM strategies in regards to cold start. And especially comparing compensated and non-compensated contribution balance and how well the PCM can make a lacking injector look halfway decent.

Looking forward to your results. Also, you might wanna try to get some db level readings before and after the Archoil. I know it quieted my injector clatter down quite a bit after a few miles.

Thanks, I considered comparing db levels at operating temp, before and after a week of use.

Similar to what I planned to do with my own truck and the sample of Diesel Power Cetane Boost additive I received.

My little experiment with it did not do as well.
I still have to replace #7&8 it did not help them.
BUT it did sound a bit quieter.

I am thinking of doing the same with db with the sample I got. Then adding in 2 stroke after that.

Just need to find the right tool for db.

When I get ready to stuff the two injectors in I think
I might ad it again just to see how it does.

I had the funds to do the injectors but is seems that
a transmission thought otherwise. Silly thinking cars and trucks.

You can get an app for your iPhone to do it. A lot of free ones

Archoil helped my truck a little on cold start idle smoothness but the reduction in overall engine noise level was a big suprise. It wold be interesting to see measurements of noise level reductions with it, both at idle and on the road.

Josh, If you feel like making some videos, I'll watch 'em

I had today for the baseline, a long trip tomorrow morning and afternoon to really work the Archoil thru the system. Maybe do a follow up video Monday morning. I'll likely drive the truck a couple days to work throughout next week and then a long trip Friday and Saturday and maybe a cold start video Sunday morning the 8th.

After that I hope to revisit the situation after about a month to see if things further improved or even regressed.

I have used a couple different db apps on the iphone and they are relatively accurate and match fairly close to our db reader at work (thanks OSHA).

Here is a screenshot I took of my own truck a few weeks ago. Taken by the degas bottle...

That was my own baseline db reading is comparing straight diesel and diesel fuel with the sample of Diesel Power Cetane Boost additive I received.
