throttle control
Hello All,
My message center indicates 'check electronic throttle control'. Ive done some research and most suggest replacing the throttle body however last year i changed it out due to stalling and erratic idle. At that time it did correct the problems.
So the car ran fine until yesterday morning when i started it up however the day before was driving through slush and snow here in NY. Immediately when started, i got the message and check engine light came on. It started running extremely erratic but still drivable but with noticeable power restriction. I understand that the computer is restricting the power because of the fault in circuit or tb. Ive listed the codes below and believe them all to be related to one fault (hopefully). Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
current fault
p0122 powertrain
throttle/pedal position sensor switch a circuit low input
current fault
p0171 powertrain
system too lean (bank 1)
current fault
p0174 powertrain
system too lean (bank 2)
current fault
pp2106 powertrain
throttle actuator control system - forced limited power
pending fault
p0113 powertrain
intake air temperature circuit high input
p0121 powertrain
throttle / pedal position sensor/switch a circuit range / performance problem

Well, the pending fault P0113 is intake temp, you didn't say what model/year you have but I think the IAT sensor is integrated in the MAF sensor, which is separate from the throttle body so at least two things that is bad. However, I'd suspect a wiring issue when looking at the codes, high input = shorted wires, low input = broken wires. Though it is not impossible, I doubt both parts went bad at the same time. Check the harness and connectors if there's any damage, perhaps it's rubbing on something and it went through the insulation somewhere.
System lean codes might resolved themselves once you fixed the sensor issues, as the mixture control is probably very confused when it lost the input from those sensors.

So your suggesting checking connections at the maf sensor? Should i also disconnect the battery for about an hour if that doesn't work? I tried clearing codes but it just came right back on. What about the control sensor on the transfer? possibly that got wet? Thank you very much for the quick response.

Im now seeing more damages. More wiring on the pass side, vacuum lines chewed through completely (3/8" lines), missing/disconnected hoses. The vacuum line for the fuel pressure regulator is missing all together. Its a complete mess. Called insurance and they will have to send an adjustor.
