97 powerstroke SCLB freshen up and zf swap

Bought this truck a month and a half ago.

Was too good of a deal to me for me to pass up, Plus i kinda liked it

bought it as a beater truck. all my trucks have been to nice and i worry alot. I absolutely love having a beater truck now!

1997 f250 4x4 sclb

7.3 e4od canadian built truck

220k miles 3.55 gears

When I bought it,

has 4 inch lift on 35s

Neweer injectors, runs like a top.

e4od isnt factory one, has been replaced somewhere down the line. already sold it for 500

Wheels and tires came with receipts, warranty, only had 400 miles on them. 315/75/r16s

Came with a FULL zf5 speed swap with a fresh zf5 less than 5k miles on it out of a f-superduty.

A LUK SMF

Manual PCM, adapter plate, bell housing bolts, pedals, full cluster, full column(neither of these I needed, just the PRNDL blank cover) Crossmember, t case linkage, clutch and slave cylinder.Shifter, shifter boot, literally everything but a rear driveshaft.

came with a used clutch but i will be putting a valair in it.

Truck needs some odds and ends. alot of parts i have sitting around already,

front tank leaks, but i have one for it from a cc psd i parted out.

install pass side step, its sitting in the bed with the piece of angle to reinforce it.

am putting the bigger mirrors on it, The "gooseneck" ones.

drivers side door hinges and striker

Probably glow plugs, havent diagnosed.

I plan on continuing to drive this through winter, to keep my green 97 off the road, I built that in 2013.

gonna buff and wax it. Was tu tone with light blue on bottom. PO didnt like it. bed-liner is only hiding rust on drivers side fender, everything else is solid and wasn't bubbling, i know this because it was a friend of mine that bought it and bed lined the bottom, so i saw it when it was tu tone.

remove body molding from pass side, is already off drivers side.

Remove and clean whole interior, all in great shape, blue interior, 40/20/40 no tears, just dirty. dash is perfect.

rear wheel wells are starting but i dont care.

doing the 5 speed swap, drive it for a few months, and sell it when my diesel bronco is finished this fall,
although my uncle tells me I'm gonna end up keeping this truck, but who knows

Hope to make a little money off it while letting it serve me through winter till the bronco is done.

Here are some pics.

ordering my valiar clutch today or tomorrow, any suggestions where to order through for best prices?

already hauled a cummins too lol

and a few of my 97 and the 84 that dont drive in the winter
me and uncle built both in the past 3 years. 84 is his, he bought it brand new when he was 18

Congrats on the purchase! I read through your build threads and don't blame you for not driving those beauty's in the winter.

Nice beater there BIG...Good decision not to drive any truck that you are proud of in this rust belt thru the winter months!!

Your 97 RC is sweet!! I just bought a 96 RC 4x4 PSD with 104k original miles, 1 owner. Trying to get her picked up late next week!! What's your plans for the "diesel bronco"?

I agree, I like keeping them out of the salt.

Thankyou, it was a labor of love.

That sounds awesome, what color? one ton?

I am building a 85 fullsize, 97 f350 axles, zf5 and transfer case, and a 94 p pump cummins motor.

Havent been updating. waiting on my rear driveshaft and ill be done with the swap.

I pulled the interior first, pressure washed and degreased the carpet, shampooed the seats, and degreased the panels.

Then pulled the auto and all associated parts, put manual parts on, and put trans in.

while trans was out we replaced the up pipe bolts, they were THIN

Got interior back together, need tog et a pic of the clean carpet, it cleaned up very well.

got my gooseneck mirrors on, bed rail covers.

did the 6637 filter.

got my chip reburned for my 5 speed.

replaced both batteries

will get more pics this week when its completely done

turning out pretty good

Cool thanks for the pics, does anyone know if those "gooseneck" style mirrors can be bought anywhere? Or are they junkyard find only?

I have a set if you need them. Ford gets about $300 for a pair of them

Looks really good Matt! Are you going to replace the missing trim or strip it off completely?
