I am married with children and we drink a ot of beer. LOL. How bad do u guys think this truck will squat in the back? Do u guys think I will need air bags? The Chevy squatted pretty bad. If the weather would improve I would just hook up and try it but we are supposed to get 6 more inches of snow today

well, you'll need a WD hitch either way. Don't be afraid of a little squat.

Congrats on your new truck!

I really don't think you will need air bags but that is up to you. The squat will depend on the tongue weight of the trailer. As mentioned you will need a weight distribution hitch and you should be fine if it is set up correctly.

I used to tow an enclosed car hauler which weighed a touch over 7,000lbs with the car in it. There were may times I had other items in the trailer and the truck loaded up. The back end was lower than the front however I had no concerns. A few times I did go through the effort of using the weight distributing hitch. At 7,000 lbs it wasn't worth the effort, unless it was really windy.

I still tow my boat which has a dry weight of 4,200 lbs. The back of the truck is about level to the front, maybe a touch higher. I also tow my open car trailer (with the car) which weighs about 5,000 lbs. The truck sits basically level.

I also tow my friends boat which has a dry weight of 9,000 lbs. The back end does sag a little. My previous truck with Max Tow package was fine. Since we only go 10 miles to the lake in the spring and 10 miles to storage in the fall it's no big deal.

I think loads 7,000 pounds or less are not much of an issue for these trucks. I do try to upgrade my tires to something better than the stock SRA's when I have a chance. There is no need to use LT tires, they are over kill for these light trailers and just make your truck ride worse.
