Well, I'm Back!!!

After my insurance company informed me that they would not cover 'loss of use' (pay for the motel) I went and bought a new generator with an electric start on the 27th and finally on late Sat. Feb 28th our power was restored. Today, about 5 mins ago, our phone and internet was finally restored, so all in all we were without power for 8 days and without phone and internet for 13 days. Of course we got hit with another mini ice storm again overnight last night, but at least the only damage from that was a bit more to the landscape trees that were already damaged by the first storm. We are all in good health and that is what really matters.

Glad you are ok, Joe. As you said that is the most important part. We got about a foot of snow here in Lexington. The town is closed they even closed the university. More snow due tonight so this place will be shut down for a few days. We do have power. Have fun.

Good to hear things are getting back to normal for you, Joe. Spring can not be far off, global warming and all.

Glad you're back to normal and got a generator that'll start without exhausting you.

Joe, I am glad you are back in your house, too bad about insurance not covering your expenses..... not surprised.

But I have a serious question here. I do not own a generator, so maybe I am missing something but what good is an electric start on a generator? Isn't the time you need a generator, when your electricity is out? So what good is an electric start?

It probably has a battery and a starter on it. Wish mine did, I work in some remote areas now and then and they come in handy to run the saws. I know the folks down Joes way don't get the snow we do up here. Hang in there guys, spring is on the way, I think...hope... Yeah its coming someday.

Oh, I see. That makes sense. I was thinking of my snowblower which you can plug it into a wall socket to start.

That's right Toby, good ole battery and a starter. You are correct, we don't get the snow here like you do...or like I did for the 54 years that I lived in buffalo...

First call since the phones came back on was Patti's son in Portland, Or, he said they were having record high temperatures there. It's called Climate change, don't ya know.

Joe, Glad you are safe and have power again. We had an ice storm here several years ago and was without power for 10 days. Some were without power for almost a month. We had a lot of timber damage, still have a lot of hanging limbs. There have been a number of people killed here since the storm from falling limbs. Please be very careful if you have to work around the trees.
Mark
