And probably cheaper than running your generator 24/7.

Hope it's all cleared soon. This winter is making me wonder how badly I want to leave Kalifornia.

Well, when we moved to this area of TN from a 'sunshine state', we were told about the storm of '93. Now folks will talk about the storm of '15.

Actually the generator's not that bad, I have a 4K watt, with a 4 gal tank that will run about 12 hrs on a tankful. I can't run the heatpump, stove or hot water tank, but can power lights, tv-sat reciever, computer, refridge and freezer. If I turn off the TV-Sat and computer, I can run the water pump or microwave or coffee pot.

We have a 5.5K watt generator that we've luckily never had to use for the house. We have used it for power at rocket launches, but it's so noisy I try to use it minimally. I have never run it out of gas so I don't know how long it will run on a tank.

Anyway, again, welcome back and glad you're safe and warm again. Oh, by the way, I loved your "loaded up the truck" reference. Immediately reminded me of the Ballad of Jed Clampett by Flatt and Scruggs. And now it's stuck in my head.

Joe, the worst part of this whole thing is that for 15 years I've owned that generator, used it dry camping at hundreds of NASCAR races and it always started with 2 pulls, but with this darned COPD, I just can't do it no more. I'm just lucky that Patti's 17 yr old grandson is with us to start it for me.

Glad you have a nice warm place to stay. Several years ago a bad ice storm hit Southwest Missouri. My parents were without power for two weeks. It sucks being on a line that doesn't have a whole lot of people. They volunteer at the senior health center so they would go there to shower. One room had propane heat and they kept the kerosene heater busy.

Hopefully aren't going stir crazy at the hotel.

That snow looks beautiful. Never seen anything like it here. Can something be beautiful and deadly at the same time? Definitely! Thanks for sharing.

Well Patti's grandson is going home in the morning, they got power back today and he has to be back to school tomorrow. (he lives in a neighboring county) I got a room closer to home for Wednesday (20 miles away). The latest update is that power will be out until at least sometime NEXT week. The locals schools finally threw in the towel and announced that they will try to reopen next week. The governor was supposed to be in town today asking for federal help.

Haslem has to make it look like he is involved and doing something. TN is supposed to be solvent.

TN was solvent until he started awarding all those no bid contracts to the out of state companies that he owns stock in. But that's another story.
