How to get to the light switch

I've got an '87 f250 on which the lights have quit working (head, parking, and dash). I don't see any problem running down the cause except that I can't figure out the best way to get into the headlamp switch to get it out or to test it in place. Anybody know how to get into this thing? Thanks.

remove lower dash panel. reach up behind the dash and push in the button, then pull the ****/shaft out. undo nut and remove switch.
