Door seal?

Hey folks, wondering if anybody has experience with the pro's con's of the more modern soft seal door seals versus the more stock door seals. I suspect it doesn't really matter what years, but I have a F1.

Thanks in advance!

I've installed a few sets of door seals. When I bought my '56, there was a set of new unknown to me brand seals with the truck. I thought they seemed a bit hard at time of installation and they are. With the doors adjusted very loosely, the doors are extremely hard to close.
On the other hand, two other sets I've recently installed came from Classic Haulers and Dennis Carpenter. Each of these sets is beautiful, fit correctly, and the doors close as well as or better than when new. Spend any extra monies needed to get the latest, best quality.
I will probably replace those stiff hard seals on my '56 in the near future before I break a door glass.

I agree, I put new seals on my 56 one time and had to slam the crap out of the door to get it to shut. I thought I was going to break the glass also. Go for the better ones.

So, which ones are the good ones ? It appears to me that Dennis Carpenter, and others are all selling the same set, $60 for the doors. Hot Rods has two different types, the $60 stock door seals, and a $70 'modern soff seal door seal'.

After I got mine all glued up and installed, the doors were impossible to close past the first tooth on the striker. I bought mine from LMC and they fit ok but like I said, you couldn't close the door completely. I pulled them off and tossed them. Now I have a nice Springtime project of removing the yellow adhesive from my doors. If I decide to put weatherstrips in again, I will probably use something from Home Depot or Lowe's. A little road noise in the cab is not going to bother me that much....the windows will be down anyway, unless I get caught in a rainstorm.

That only works for '53 thru '56. Are the ones at Classic Haulers the same type?

I used the hollow seals from Mid-fifty, and they worked well. Year later I thought I needed more seal because of a little wind noise, so I glued a flat soft seal strip to the door opening in the cab. End of problem.
