Anyone running 39.5's?

My truck has 6" of lift. I just put these worn out tires on to get an idea of what I want. I really like the Super Swamper IROK's. I have 16.5 rims so that limits me to 36 or 39.5. I just wanted to see if there were any trucks with 39.5s and what they looked like. Before everyone jumps on me, yes, I have a dana 44 front axle. But, I will be doing no mudding or off roading and after this truck undergoes its total restoration it probably wont see much of winter either. So the 4x4 really isn't ever going to be used.

I ran 39.5s on Earthquake I. Stock half ton truck and 9" of lift. I beat the crap out of that truck and never broke an axle.

My cousin had an 86 ttb Bronco with 38's that saw alot of offroading. Never had a problem despite what everyone says about the dana 44. To be honest though it very rarely had to be locked in 4wd. Love them Fords.

What makes you think that? Here are 55 tire options for 16.5 rims, clear up to 44's.

What I should have said is that I want tires between 36 and 39.5's. When you check on 4wheelparts for 16.5 rim size all they have is super swamper. And in the range I want there aren't very many options. I mean really, why would I even consider running 44's? With just 6" of lift. That is why I said my options are slim. There are actually 26 options in the size I want and when I narrow it down to what I really want (TSL's or IROK's) it gets even smaller. Not wanting boggers or thornbirds.......................

With the 16.5 rims you can get the 36" or 37's mil take off's cheap. And the gen 3 hummer 37x12.50x16.5 BFG baja's are a pretty good and cheap tire for being a 37" tire.

Thornbirds.....yea...NO!

I would run a "37 military take-off. I love that look.

Also I've broken many a stub shaft on a Dana44 with only 35's. You will be fine if you are not off roading though.

If you are going to use the truck on pavement mostly/only you might want to avoid bias tires and only go with radials.

nice rig, lots of people replace the 16.5 wheels with 16s or 17s, personally I use 15s on my f100 but its not 4wd.

Even the radial 37" Good Years are COMPLETELY USELESS if water in any form falls on the road. I have them on one of my trucks and got stuck on a plowed, level parking lot last winter. Even in the rain, you might as well have slicks on the truck

There are a couple of factors I have been thinking about when selecting tires. I don't drive this truck very much. I don't get to drive this truck very much in bad weather either. I work for the highway dept. So when the weather is bad I am out at work. This truck is not my main vehicle. I am lucky if I put 100 miles a month on it. So I am not to worried about the bias/radial issue. I am leaning towards 38.5 TSL's.

Taking the mileage and how often it is driven factors in account, you will REALLY have flat spots if you get bias ply tires.

These are 38.5x14.50. Not exactly what you're asking for, but close.
