4x4 issues in my 94' bronco

The 4x4 on my 94' bronco seems to not be engaging..i read a post somewhere that said if the test light on the control module near the glove box either stays on or does not blink 4 times that the module is bad..could that be the only problem? Or is that signaling a further problem along the line maybe in the transfer case?

Why do you think it's not engaging? What symptoms do you have? Do the 4x4 lights on the dash light up when you shift into 4wd?

Light comes on when I push the 4x4 high button and I hear a click in the module but do not hear a click underneath the truck..I've tried to check for spinning front tires and it doesn't seem to be spinning..as for the 4x4 low, the light doesn't even come on when I press that button..no signs of that working at all.

Silly question, is the transmission in neutral when you try to engage four wheel drive? If not, it won't engage .... at least mine won't

To clarify Zombieslayer's post, the truck must be stopped, transmission must be in neutral and foot on the brake when trying to shift into 4 low. Otherwise the module won't let it shift. You can shift in and out of 4 high while the truck is moving, and the transmission can be in any gear.

I would shift into 4wd, then crawl under the truck and try to spin the front driveshaft by hand. Make sure transmission is in park (automatic) or in gear (manual). If you have manual hubs, leave them unlocked. If you have automatic hubs, jack up the front of the truck so the front wheels are off the ground and free to spin. With the truck in 4wd, the front driveshaft should NOT spin. If you're able to spin it by hand, you know the transfer case did not shift into 4wd. If you can't spin it, then you know the transfer case shifted into 4wd. That would mean the transfer case, module and all the wiring works fine.
