2005 FX4 Passenger Air Bag light
Hi All,
I'm experiencing this problem frequently, but not 100% of the time. The "Passenger Airbag Off" light located directly above the radio has been coming on and staying on most of the time. Some of that time the airbag symbol next to the tach lights up as well. Occasionally the seatbelt warning chime will sound indicating the passenger has not fastened their belt. The lights have been coming on regardless of whether someone is in the passenger seat. The warning chime only happens without someone in the seat and even then not very often. I have noticed when none of the warning lights are on and I put some weight on the seat, the "Passenger Airbag Off" light will come on as it's supposed to, recognizing that something is in the seat, but not an adult. As is probably obvious, this is not the model that has the key operated passenger air bag shut off. It's operated by what I assume is a weight activated switch in the seat. My question for the group is what's wrong. I've been told there are multiple components to the system and at least one of which requires replacing the seat cushion and can be very expensive. Wondering if anyone in the group has experienced this and at least figured out where the failure lies.
Thanks.
