Car alarm woes...
Hey guys (and gals),
I've got a 1998 F250 Lariat that I bought down in Cali. She's been a great truck, had her since June 2014. I recently brought her to Canada with me and have run into a ridiculous problem. Roughly 2 hours after driving the truck, the alarm goes off without an obvious reason!
I've gone through forums and Google and asked the dealership without any useful advice. I've lubed the door jambs, the ignition cylinder and tried replacing he batteries in the FOB. No lingering dome light and no door ajar lights. Now I'm stumped! The only thing I am sure of at this point is that somehow this is related to the temperature. If I get the alarm, start the truck and shut it off without letting it warm up, the alarm won't trip on its own. But if the truck has been running and driving, within about 2 hours the alarm sounds.
Anybody have any ideas or advice for this one? I'm starting to lose my mind here, not to mention making myself unpopular in the neighbourhood when I get home late!
Thanks,
Mike

Sounds like you have a ghost in the machine. You need to confirm what alarm it has how many (piggy back factory and aftermarket alarms). Then you can find schematics for your box and get an idea of what inputs drive it.
Possibly the previous owner is following you around and hitting the alarm remote just to screw with you.

lol, well either you will pull the paneling from under the driver side dash and look around or you will pay someone else to. This is a tricky problem to figure out as it will require quite a bit of specific knowledge of what you got hooked up, then quite possibly more then several/a lot of hours of diagnostic to find the fault.
so either learn to love the sound of your alarm, learn a new skill, or smash open your piggy bank...
that's all I got to offer
good luck
