GA5173 can bus

My unit does the same as yours. But I believe it's an intended feature like where some vehicles will let you close power windows after the key is removed but before you open the door. Opening the door -OR- a timer like maybe 30 secs is all you get before this extra feature stops working.
I also think the can bus decoder would get some wires attached if you have steering wheel controls for your audio system that you want to work with the GA5173....but Eonon has stated that there could be extra adapters needed for some vehicles to get steering wheel controls working.

thanks for the reply forgak:

I have a 2007 explorer xlt. so it is pretty basic, i did notice that when i had the can bus hooked up it knew when i put my car in reverse... It just would not turn off the radio when i shut the ignition off. I check all my connections and they are all connected just fine. maybe it is faulty? all of the sudden my tire sensor fault is going off? this could just be a coincidence but i am leaning towards no

I've been looking at this also. I have a 04 F150 FX4 Supercrew. One question, the ones I've seen on ebay show the 2 alignment tabs on either side of the radio but no spots for the 4 screws like on the factory radio. Does it actually have those or would I need to remove them from my OEM radio?

You have to use the brackets from the factory radio but you'll have to drill a hole for it to line up. But I returned that radio got the android version that plugged right in and steering wheel controls worked perfect

THIS IS THE ONE I LOOKED AT

Is this similar to the one you have Migs? I don't have steering wheel controls in my truck, so no need to worry about that

Would you have a pic of yours installed?

How does this work? Need a new sound system for my F350, and would like to display engine readouts, besides the obligatory "oil pressure gage" which is an idiot light in drag......

Hey Everyone,

I am thinking of putting the GA5173 in my 2006 Mercury Mountaineer (even though Eonon is saying it is not compatible).

I just want to make sure this is plug and play.
Meaning I remove the old radio and just plug this one in.
I would rather use the internal gps already so I am assuming I need this device.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Fakra-Plug-Z-to-SMA-male-pigtail-Cable-RG316-for-Wireless-equipment-/331134386021?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d1925bf65
Is there anything else I need to worry about?
Do the steering wheel buttons work after installation?

Thanks in advance.

Also.
Fordgak can you let me know which antenna adapter is needed?

Thanks

I have tried 2 of them, and I've gone from almost no sound with the 1st one (no amplification) to ZERO sound with the 2nd. They sent me a replacement and I just connected it today for testing. As I said, it failed. I am going to do more trouble shooting, but it is really just a PLUG and PLAY with the exception of the ADAPTER needed to use the STOCK Antennae and another one if you want to use the FACTORY GPS. (That one took forever to find, but if you're interested, I can tell you how to get it. It's cheap on eBay, but comes from China)

As far as the unit itself, it's the best fitting of all of the EONON's I have tried. (2 Others were just a tad smaller than the hole in the Dash).

The ANDROID part of this thing is FANTASTIC. It supports GOOGLE NOW, GOOGLE MAPS (forget having to pay to upgrade your NAVIGATION Software) and all kinds of other ANDROIDY things.

But my experience has been no sound. I was hoping to find someone who had installed one and get their experiences.

So if you get one, let me know how it works out.

I am having issues with mine

What you told me about the "Plain Vanillia" Ford unit is just what I needed to know. I've been in touch with Tech Support at PAC Audio and the tech there said Eonon's Cam Bus Adapter probably doesn't know how to talk to the THX Amp.

My next step in this process will be to get their RP4-FD11 (as he suggested) in the mix and see if that'll work. (I'm sure it will)

Again, THANX for the INPUT, you've been most helpful.
I am having issues with mine 1 realizing when the lights are on and 2 when to turn the reverse cam on. What version of canbus do you have. When you log into setting what version of canbus is your Eonon set to mine is set to Ford Mondeo (Simple) is it because I have a manual transmission?
