Make sure this guy knows what your doing so he doesn't become a Boris....also, after you look things over tell him to please do it for 9k as a few small things needs attention and your at your max. your not lying and $500 May mean very little to him.

Spend a little time looking for that little rattle he told you about...
My guesses are: 1) transmission inspection plate ( no big deal ) 2 minute zero cost repair
2) exhaust heat shields ( no big deal ) 10 minutes with your favorite hammer and screw driver cost maybe a bloody knuckle or two
3) the dreaded exhaust studs ( usually more of a tick when engine cold ) get a bigger discount $800 is what ford charges for this repair, or you can befriend Christina.
4) belt tensioner, not bad $$ wise for the part and labor
