Reverse sensors not turning off

Hey all,
It's abnormally cold here in the Northern Va area single digits with windchills in the negatives. I ran through the car wash, one of those that hand dries it afterwards to get the salt off my truck. After running the roads I went to back in to a spot and the sensors are going off. Nothing is blocking them so I'm thinking water got inside and froze?

I had that same problem on my 08. It ended up one of the sensors had a crack in it. It had to be replaced. It started in cold weather after washing the truck, then it reached the point any time it was wet I had the problem.

Thanks for the input. Was it visibly cracked on the outside where you could see it? I still have a month on the dealer warranty and would like them to fix before I have to drop a bill on my deductible

I could not see the crack. The Dealer's body shop said they detected a crack and needed to replace the sensor. I don't know how they tested it. This was a common problem for several years. In the early 2000's Ford had several TSB's for this same issue on just about every vehicle that had the sensors.

Worst case, this is an easy DIY project, you can buy a set of sensors on eBay for around $50 and change them in 30 minutes yourself. Of course it is better if the dealer does it.

When are you heading in to your dealer for diagnosis, mrrish79? How many miles are on the truck? Be sure to come back and tell us how things go.

Crystal
