A correction for the record. 1973 thru 1978 is not accurate. 1976 1977 1978 1979 U Haul F 350's came with the 330 XD. XD=Extra Duty, an improved version of the 330 FT. These engines have the rare 5 port exhaust manifolds which look externally similar to the 4 port FE exhaust manifolds.

It's a dog most likely because the vac leaks!
Change the vac advance diaphragm. It'll probably feel like it gained 4 more cylinders

Yes... but it is a brand new distributer, new carb, new gaskets. I don't know where the vacuum leak is coming from; I looked. Its too cold right now to do anything but when it gets warm again, I will have to find them. There aren't many places for leaks, I just cant find it.

Brake booster? I bought a booster for my 63 w/ 223 and I had to disassemble and really clean it up well. Especially around the check valve grommet and where the MC bolts up.

As you said. Not a whole lot else... PCV if equipped??

Btw I'm in Wolcott

Sorry to O/P for hijacking the thread

Are FT and FE blocks the same?

Could the FT mounts be used on a FE and installed in a straight axle F100?

Just curious.

maybe

As far as I can tell if you have the cast iron front cover off of a 330md and a bell and trany from the same It should bolt up. I will find out fairly soon. allthough I think I have a 330hd so I will have to work around the large crank snout if I want to use a fe crank as well as a bushing for the larger ft hole for the dizzy. this is all info gleaned from the fte goldmine I will see if it is fools gold or not.

390 in 292 out

I will either bore the 330 block to 390 and add a 390 crank headers intake heads from a 360 I took out of my 65 or just use the 360 block and find a oil seal or bushing to make the 330 timing cover/front mount work. so I need crank and rods I have a set of heads the 360 block has no ridges and I think it is 30 over so that is where I am leaning. just bought the 330 for the mounts, trans, pto,e brake at $125 I can scrap the rest.
