I have had a 5 Star tuner on mine for a couple years. I have only been running the 87 octane tow/perf tune. I love it. Made a huge difference. Helps with trans shifting and all if its done right. 5 Star tuning is where it's at.

I had a superchip cortez lying around from another truck and I put it in my 2006 V10. It didn't make much of a difference. I don't recommend it for the V10.

I'm another happy 5Star Tuning customer, they will provide custom tunes taking any mods done to your rig into account, much better than "canned" tunes. My V-10 runs better with all 5 of my custom tunes and the trans performance increase has been outstanding! I tow heavy (11K+ TT) a lot and the 87 and 89 octane performance tunes have made a remarkable improvement in my EX's pulling ability, a little more power and much improved trans shift schedules have allowed me to stay in OD on more hills and increased the MPGs as well as the fun factor. You will also find that 5Star has some of the best customer service around.

+1 on the happy 5 Star customer meter. I use one tune for towing and one for everyday driving. Loving it. They start with their tune based on your desires and specific vehicle and then they made adjustments for me until I was completely happy (I wanted OD holding longer, needed a couple degrees of timing backed out, just fine tuned it for MY vehicle).

Does the year of the truck have anything to do with the gains perceived? For example, would my 99 benefit more or less than the newer 3V engines?

I have read on here that the 2v engines do not benefit as much as the 3v engines but still offer some benefit.
